Schools Home

Ascend is a network of K-12 public charter schools rooted in Brooklyn that honor, nurture, and challenge the whole child.

We know all students are inherently excellent. Our role is to provide students with a K-12 education that empowers them to live a life of boundless choice. We foster critical thinking skills and a love of learning through our inquiry-based learning approach, Responsive Classroom model, and anti-racist education. We are deeply committed to advancing educational equity for all of our students.

Student-centered learning

Ascend schools provide a joyful, inquiry-based learning environment where students develop their full potential. Students are encouraged to think critically, discover their own opinions, identity, and voice, and learn from one another.

Our approach

Beautiful school facilities

All our schools are housed in inviting, custom-built or newly renovated buildings where every design detail communicates our high aspirations for teaching and learning. Schools consist of colorful, well-lit classrooms with large, modern gymnasiums. Our school facilities provide welcoming environments for students and families to come together for community events.

Beginning in kindergarten, Ascend lower schools establish a foundation of strong basic skills in early literacy, a conceptual understanding of math, critical thinking, intellectual drive, and a love of learning.
